Lab Life

Here are some ways that we cultivate Rubin lab culture. 

Celebrations: The Rubin lab scrupulously celebrates all events. We don’t miss a birthday, because cake is a priority here.

Lab Retreat: We get away to a local destination once a year to talk over big picture science and organization AND have fun together.  Years past:  bowling in Midtown, hiking in Pere Marquette, cooking a 6 course meal at Josh’s house, touring the historic Bellefontaine cemetery.

Summer and Winter Parties: Josh hosts seasonal gatherings at his home complete with amazing food.

Culture Nights: Josh hosts culture nights where he introduces lab members to  historically significant movies. Invitations are given in the form of clue cards that hint at the movie choice.

Food: We take every opportunity to share and consume great food.
